About
Hi, my name is Mamoru Yakuwa. I am an undergraduate student in the Department of French Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters, at Aoyama Gakuin University.
My research interests lie in phonetics, phonology, morphology, and their interfaces. The central frameworks of my research are (i) phonological theory, especially Optimality Theory and other computational approaches, and (ii) experimental phonology using online experimental methods. The primary languages I focus on are French and Japanese.
Through my research, I aim to clarify what kind of knowledge human beings have about speech sounds and how they compute and process this knowledge. I am particularly interested in uncovering both the universal properties of sound systems and language-specific characteristics through independent and comparative studies.
